Baystate Health Foundation

We’ve chosen to partner with Baystate Health—specifically, the Baystate Health Foundation—to ensure that we do better for our community in the midst of this terrible opioid epidemic. All donations to the Foundation will be earmarked to support opioid research, treatment, and prevention.

About Baystate Health and the foundation

Based in western Massachusetts, Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, multi-institutional, integrated health care organization serving over one million people throughout western New England. With roots dating to the founding of Springfield Hospital in 1883, Baystate Health has been providing high-quality and compassionate health care in the Pioneer Valley for more than 140 years. With a workforce of 12,000 employees, Baystate Health is the largest private employer in the region and includes a full range of facilities and services.

Baystate Health's continued excellence in patient care, research and education depends on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations. Baystate Health Foundation, Inc. ("BHF") is a nonprofit, charitable organization supporting all philanthropic efforts at each of Baystate Health's hospitals and ancillary services.

hcc mgm culinary arts institute

We are proud to partner with with Holyoke Community College (HCC)—namely, the HCC MGM Culinary Institute. Timmy attended HCC between 1998 and 2000. In pursuing a Culinary Arts certificate there, he was able to bring his passion for cooking to life and hone the skills necessary to become a local chef. We established the Timothy M. Thompson Memorial Scholarship in his memory to assist current and future HCC students who share a similar desire to study the Culinary Arts. Their hope is that this financial assistance will empower other budding chefs to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals while advancing their education at the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute.

About the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute

The HCC MGM Culinary Institute (HCC CAI) opened on April 12, 2018 at 164 Race St. in downtown Holyoke near the canals. This state of the art facility with five professional grade kitchens is a seven-minute drive from Holyoke Community College's main campus on Homestead Avenue. The HCC CAI replaces HCC's former culinary department space, which had one kitchen and a small baking area and offers a multitude of programs for aspiring chefs, including a pipeline for jobs.

HCC is the only community college in Massachusetts accredited by the prestigious American Culinary Federation. HCC offers an enriching, experiential education in the Culinary Arts. Learn more.
